For Professionals

"My staff really likes this site. They downloaded the Table of Contents form and keep it in the exam room for me. I can just circle the articles or community program pages I want for a patient, and then they print it out as part of the exit procedure."

Physicians, social workers, nurses and clergy will all find this website useful. Simply download the Table of Contents of this site (a .pdf document) and print it out for use in your office. All you have to do is circle the articles or community programs pages you want. If you have office staff, they can print out the pages and hand them to your clients. (No need to clutter your office with a bulky notebook that goes out of date.) If you do not have staff, you can give the form to your clients. Many have computers themselves, or family members who have access to the internet. This website is available to answer their questions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Members of Partners to Improve End of Life Care—the organization sponsoring this "Living with Serious Illness" website—have been actively working with the End of Life Task Force of the Lane County Medical Society. Physicians from this group reviewed the articles under "Medical Concerns." Additionally, the Lane County Medical Society published a very positive review of the site in their September 2003 newsletter.
In another joint venture, Partners members helped draft the LCMS End of Life protocols for symptom management now available on the Lane County Medical Society website. Further collaborative projects are planned for the coming year.
